teen volunteer squad logoDo you want to volunteer at the library this summer?  Join our Summer Volunteer Squad!  We are looking for tech gurus, marketing moguls and kids program planners.

For teens entering grades 7-12 in the fall of 2018

All participants (including new and returning volunteers) must complete an application- Pick up an application at the library or download it here!

Each volunteer will be a member of one of the following squads:

  • Teen Tech Squad
    Offer one-on-one tech lessons to adults and seniors – teach them how to use an iPad, tablets, Android phones, Facebook, Twitter and more.
    Mandatory Orientation: June 26th at 2pm
    Volunteers must be available to attend at least 4 meetings: Tuesdays, July 10 - August 14, 1:30-3:30pm
  • Library Marketing Squad
    Calling all library lovers – help us promote your favorite things about the library. Join our marketing team and help us spread the word about the amazing books, programs and everything else you love about the library! Volunteers will help create video commercials, book displays and more.
    Volunteers must be available to attend at least 4 meetings: Wednesdays, July 11 - August 15, 2-3pm
  • Open Play Squad
    Toys, puzzles, blocks, and nursery rhymes - it's playtime at the library! Looking for helpers to play with little ones and share your love of the library. Help parents and their children interact with library toys and games in meaningful and purposeful ways.
    Mandatory Orientation: June 28th at 11:00am
    Volunteers must be available to attend at least 4 meetings: Thursdays, July 12 - August 16, 10:30am - 12:30pm
  • S.T.E.A.M. Discovery Hour Squad
    Love playing with tech toys, robotics and working on messy science experiments? Discover new technology and explore STEAM projects at the library this summer! Then put your new skills to the test – help organize and run a fun technology and science program that you design for young kids.
    Mandatory Orientation: June 28th at 2pm
    Volunteers must be available to attend at least 4 meetings: Thursdays, July 12 - August 16, 1:30-3:30pm
  • Kids Create It Squad
    Are you creative and love arts and crafts projects? Do you have a special artistic talent? This is the volunteer group for you!  Help create and run a weekly craft programs for young kids.
    Mandatory Orientation: June 28th at 2pm
    Volunteers must be available to attend at least 4 meetings: Thursdays, July 12 - August 16, 1:30-3:30pm

Applications due by Friday, June 1st at 5pm
Return completed application to the Information Desk at the Onondaga Free Library (4840 West Seneca Turnpike Syracuse, NY 13215)

Come to an information session to learn more: Monday, May 14 at 3pm or Thursday, May 17 at 7pm
