Items may be renewed for an additional loan period, providing there are no hold requests.
Patrons holding a valid Onondaga County Public Library card will have free access to the collection at Onondaga Free Library regardless of where the card was issued. Additionally, requests may be made by patrons for materials outside the OCPL system using the standard Interlibrary Loan procedure. Likewise, the collection at Onondaga Free Library will be made available to library systems outside the county using the standard Interlibrary Loan procedure.
There is a 25 cents per day fine for all circulating items, except children's materials which are 10 cents per day. Fines may be paid by cash or checks payable to Onondaga Free Library.
The Onondaga Free Library is a public institution that endeavors to provide for its users an environment suitable for reading, studying, and activities relating to library programs and other community activities. To promote this goal, the Board of Trustees of the Onondaga Free Library has adopted the following rules governing the use of the Library.
- Patrons must respect the rights of other patrons at all times.
- Patrons must not disturb others by engaging in disruptive behavior.
- Patrons must not interfere with an employee's performance of his or her duties.
Proscribed behavior includes, but is not limited to, verbal abuse, offensive gestures, threats of violence, sexual harassment, downloading, storing, printing or any public display of illegal material which interferes with the activities of library staff or patrons, and any activity which contributes to a hostile or threatening environment.
- The use of electronic equipment which may disturb other patrons is prohibited in the
public areas of the Library. This includes, but is not limited to, cellphones, audio equipment, and electronic games.
- Patrons may not engage in an illegal activity on the library premises.
- Solicitation of funds, distribution of literature, or sale of goods is forbidden, except by
permission of the Library Director or other staff as designated by the Library Director. Notices on bulletin boards are limited to those submitted by not for profit organizations.
- Use of tobacco products in the library facility is forbidden.
- Shoes and shirts are required of all persons entering the building.
- Animals may not be brought into the Library unless they are required by a disabled
person, or are part of an authorized library activity.
- Patrons must not damage or deface library furnishings, equipment, or facilities.
Library materials must not be damaged or defaced intentionally by marking, underlining, removing pages or portions of pages, using paper clips, or removing bindings. Library staff will use their discretion and may charge patrons for damage that occurs to above stated items.
- Library materials and property may not be removed from the building without proper
checkout or authorization.
- Library materials may not be taken into restrooms.
- Parents are responsible for ensuring that their children will not be left unattended at
the library prior to closing, must pick up children and young adults under the age of 16 prior to closing time, and no child under the age of three years may be left unattended.
- Parents are responsible for overseeing the conduct of their children while at the
library, the selection of materials for their own children, and for their children's use of computer equipment and software within the library.
- Patrons are solely responsible for their personal property while at the Library.
- Patrons are responsible for paying fines, fees, and other charges levied against their
accounts in accordance with the Library's fine policy.
- Patrons must follow posted guidelines on the use of electronic resources and
equipment.
- Users must observe intellectual property laws, including United States Copyright Laws.
Patrons guilty of violation of the above rules may be removed from the library. Repeated violations may result in the revocation of library privileges. Library personnel are encouraged to call police when necessary to enforce any of the above rules.
Library Card Registration Policy:
To register for a library card, patrons must present identification with a current address listed. Driver's licenses are preferred. For minors, parents must show identification with a current address. Your library card is accepted at any of the libraries within the Onondaga County Public Library system.

cover sheet.
- Receiving- $1.00 per page.
In the event of inclement weather, if Westhill Schools are closed, then Onondaga Free Library will be closed. Check local news channels for announcements.
